Canada and Sweden will battle it out for the gold medal at the men’s World Curling Championship.
Team Gushue took a 9-4 victory over Bruce Mouat’s Scotland in the semi-finals before Sweden edged a 5-3 win over Italy to decide the medal matches on the final day of competition.
Scotland were able to level the score 3-3 in the fifth end but Mouat’s final shot came just short in the sixth and allowed Canada a game-changing steal of three which ultimately decided the contest.
Sweden came into the knockout stages top of the standings with a sole defeat in the round robin and continued their storming form against Italy.
A low scoring and slow burner of a match, Niklas Edin played a hit against the Italian stone to open the scoring in the third end.
