- Joy Division Stuns Fans with 2025 World Tour and New Album Announcement
Legendary post-punk pioneers Joy Division have thrilled fans worldwide by announcing a 2025 world tour, accompanied by the release of a brand-new album. This marks the band’s first major tour in decades and their first new studio material since their 1980 classic, Closer.
The announcement, made on Christmas Eve, sent shockwaves through the music industry and social media platforms. Fans and critics alike are eagerly anticipating what Joy Division’s sound will bring in the modern era, while staying true to their iconic melancholic and atmospheric roots.
The tour, dubbed “Transmission 2025,” will kick off in March in Manchester, the band’s birthplace, before heading to major cities across Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia. The setlist is expected to blend timeless classics like Love Will Tear Us Apart and Atmosphere with fresh tracks from their forthcoming album.
Although frontman Ian Curtis tragically passed away in 1980, the remaining members—Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook, and Stephen Morris—have found a way to honor his legacy while evolving creatively. Rumors suggest the band may include rare archival recordings of Curtis’s voice in some of the new songs, a move that fans have hailed as both poignant and respectful.
Speaking at the announcement, Bernard Sumner said, “This is about coming full circle and reconnecting with our fans, many of whom discovered our music long after we stopped performing together. The new album is a reflection of where we are today, but it’s also a tribute to where we came from.”
Tickets for the tour go on sale January 15, 2025, with pre-sales available for long-time fans. The yet-unnamed album will drop in February, just ahead of the tour’s start.
Joy Division’s return is poised to be one of the most significant musical moments of the decade.
