The Pogues Announced Release of New Album on 15 January Wednesday 2025, Set for 2025 Final Tour

Legendary Irish folk-punk band The Pogues have officially announced the release of their highly anticipated new album on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. This marks their first studio album since 1996’s Pogue Mahone and comes as a heartfelt tribute to their late frontman, Shane MacGowan, who passed away in November 2023.

The album, described as a blend of classic Pogues energy with modern twists, features original members James Fearnley, Jem Finer, and Spider Stacy alongside a lineup of special guest collaborators. The band has shared that the new record is a celebration of MacGowan’s enduring legacy, with tracks reflecting their signature mix of raw emotion, biting humor, and poetic storytelling.

In addition to the album, The Pogues have also revealed plans for a 2025 farewell tour. Dubbed their “Final Tour,” the band will hit the road in May, performing in cities across the UK and Europe. The tour will spotlight the 40th anniversary of their iconic 1985 album, Rum Sodomy & the Lash, with a promise to play it in its entirety alongside other fan-favorite tracks.

Speaking about the dual announcement, the band stated, “This album and tour are not just a farewell but a tribute to the music, the fans, and, most importantly, to Shane. His spirit is deeply woven into every note and lyric.”

Tickets for the farewell tour will go on sale on Friday, November 22, 2024. Fans are urged to act quickly, as this final opportunity to witness The Pogues live is expected to sell out rapidly.

The release of the new album and the final tour mark the end of an era, ensuring that The Pogues’ indelible mark on music history will never fade.
