In a thrilling development for metal fans, former AMON AMARTH guitarist Fredrik Andersson has teamed up with ex-bandmates Niko Kaukinen (drums) and Anders Biazzi (guitar) to form FIMBUL WINTER, a new project that promises to blend nostalgia with innovation.
FIMBUL WINTER recently made its official live debut at the Close-Up BÃ¥ten cruise earlier this month, delivering a performance that showcased their commitment to revisiting classic tracks. Fan-filmed footage from the concert has emerged, highlighting the band’s chemistry and energy on stage.
In their initial statement upon formation, FIMBUL WINTER expressed their intention to focus on the old demos and songs they contributed to during their AMON AMARTH days. The band has already written and demoed five original tracks, some of which feature riffs that originated with AMON AMARTH. These new songs are set to be recorded and released in the future.
The inception of FIMBUL WINTER traces back to Kaukinen’s desire to perform the demo “The Arrival Of The Fimbul Winter” at his 50th birthday party, a project that quickly gained momentum when Andersson offered to join in on guitar. With the addition of friends Linus Nirbrant (bass) and Clint Williams (vocals), the group enjoyed a unique and memorable jam session, prompting them to pursue the idea of forming a new band.
With a mix of classic tracks and original material, FIMBUL WINTER is poised to capture the hearts of fans old and new as they carve out their identity in the heavy metal landscape. Keep an eye out for their upcoming releases and performances!
