In a statement that has ignited the metal community, Rob Dukes has firmly addressed his return to Exodus, declaring, “I’m back, and it’s not a mistake. Don’t think you are our key.” His words, directed at former Exodus frontman Steve “Zetro” Souza, have fueled speculation about the tensions surrounding the band’s lineup changes.

Dukes, who originally fronted Exodus from 2005 to 2014, was replaced by Souza in what was a controversial decision at the time. Now, with his return to the band, Dukes is making it clear that his reinstatement is not a step backward but rather a definitive move forward for the thrash metal legends.

“I’ve always had immense respect for Exodus and the legacy we built,” Dukes stated in a recent interview. “But this isn’t about trying to rewrite history or prove anything. The fans deserve the best version of this band, and that’s what we’re here to give them.”

Souza, who had previously been the band’s vocalist during their classic era from the mid-’80s to early ’90s and returned in 2014, has not publicly commented on Dukes’ remarks. However, insiders close to the band indicate that the transition has not been entirely smooth. Tensions have reportedly flared behind the scenes as the group navigates the dynamics of another significant lineup shift.

Exodus fans remain divided on the matter, with some expressing excitement for Dukes’ return and others questioning the sudden change. Despite the controversy, the band has reassured fans that new music and a major tour are on the horizon, signaling a promising yet uncertain chapter in their storied career.

As the dust settles, one thing remains certain: Exodus continues to push forward, and Rob Dukes is making sure his voice is heard loud and clear.
