In a bold move to strengthen their playoff hopes, the Cincinnati Reds have acquired center fielder Cedric Mullins from the struggling Baltimore Orioles. With Baltimore’s slow 11–17 start to the 2025 season, the Orioles have decided to part ways with the eight-year veteran, and the Reds have seized the opportunity to bring in a key offensive asset.

Mullins, who is enjoying his best season since 2021, has been a standout for the Orioles so far, posting a .292 batting average, six home runs, and a .983 OPS. He leads the Orioles in several offensive categories, including hits, home runs, and RBIs. His consistent production made him one of the hottest trade targets on the market.

“Adding Cedric to our roster gives us another dynamic presence in the outfield and boosts our offensive depth,” said Reds GM. “He’s the kind of player who can make an immediate impact, both offensively and defensively.”

Mullins, who earned All-Star honors and a Silver Slugger award in 2021, has been a key contributor to the Orioles’ lineup over the years. However, with Baltimore falling out of postseason contention, they opted to move him in favor of future assets.

The Reds’ latest acquisition strengthens their roster as they continue their push for a playoff spot, and Mullins will undoubtedly play a significant role as they strive to contend in the National League.
