DEAL DONE: Celtic ‘have ’ agree Rangers deal this summer – Keith Wyness

In an interview with Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Keith Wyness, the 66-year-old former CEO of Aberdeen

who served as the club’s CEO from 2000 to 2004, who also held executive positions at Everton and Aston Villa

before starting his own football consultancy advising elite clubs, stated that Celtic and Rangers “have to” come to an

agreement to return all allotted numbers of away fans to Old Firm games before the 2024–25 season begins.

In March, the SPFL confirmed that Celtic and Rangers have agreed a deal to provide ticket allocations of “around

5%” to away fans for Old Firm games – starting next season.

Derby matches have had very small and even zero away allocations following a move from the Gers in 2018 which

saw ticket numbers cut.

The agreement means around 2,500 Celtic fans will visit Ibrox next season, while 3,000 Rangers supporters will be in attendance at Celtic Park.

Wyness wants return to full away ends at Celtic and Rangers games

But previously, around 7,000 away fans were permitted entry – and Wyness called for a return to that stance to

preserve the “beauty” of the Old Firm.

We want the atmosphere to be unique, but it is just the way things work.

We need to figure out a way to make football the winner.

“An Old Firm game is aesthetically pleasing and ought to be preserved.”

Amidst fresh information, Celtic is working on a 27-year-old contract.
