HUGE BOOST: Cam Scott Officially Withdraws from Transfer Portal, Returning to South Carolina for 2025–26 Season

By Andrew Olson – April 29, 2025

South Carolina guard Cam Scott has officially ended his brief stint in the transfer portal, announcing on Monday that he will return to the Gamecocks for the 2025–26 season.

The 6-foot-6 sophomore had entered the portal on April 1, exploring his options after a limited role during his freshman year. But after nearly a month of weighing his future, Scott confirmed via social media that he is staying in Columbia.

A native of Lexington, South Carolina, Scott was a two-time Gatorade Player of the Year and a top-ranked recruit coming out of high school, drawing national attention from recruiting services such as 247Sports and On3.

Scott appeared in 26 games during the 2024–25 season, averaging 2.5 points and 1.3 rebounds in 264 total minutes. Though he didn’t make any starts and shot just 27.8% from the field — including 17.8% from three — Scott had remained optimistic about his development.

“I know my time will come. Whenever the time comes, I’ll be ready for it,” he told The Post and Courier earlier in the season.

With his return now official, Scott will rejoin a Gamecocks squad looking to build continuity heading into the new campaign — and he’s expected to compete for a larger role in the rotation this fall.
