The Kansas State Wildcats have added another significant piece to their 2026 football recruiting class, as linebacker Dejon Ackerson announced his commitment on Friday.
Ackerson, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound linebacker from Oklahoma City, chose Kansas State over several notable programs, including Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Pitt, Boston College, and Tulsa. This decision strengthens the Wildcats’ recruiting presence in the region.
Ranked as the No. 28 overall prospect in Oklahoma and the No. 5 linebacker by recruiting service On3, Ackerson is known for his speed, instincts, and tackling ability. Scouts and coaches have praised his athleticism, and his commitment follows a successful unofficial visit to Manhattan earlier this month, where he met with coaches and toured the facilities.

Ackerson joins cornerback Brandon Ford of Crowley, Texas, and offensive lineman Lemarcus Barber of Shawnee, Kansas, as part of K-State’s 2026 recruiting class, giving the Wildcats three key early commitments.
Kansas State is building on the momentum from a strong 2024 season, which included a 9-4 record and a thrilling 44-41 victory over Rutgers in their bowl game. The Wildcats will open the 2025 season with an international matchup against Iowa State in Dublin, Ireland.
