According to a Swedish newspaper, Eric Smith of FC St. Pauli is being pursued by Leeds United and West Bromwich

Albion for a summer transfer.

In January 2021, the center back went on loan from KAA Gent to the German team, and later that year, his spell was extended.

Smith has been a consistent for St. Pauli; in the just finished season, he scored eight goals from

30 games (two goals and six assists).

Leeds and West Brom are reportedly interested in the 27-year-old, as reported by Fotbollskanalen via Aftonbladet.

The two English teams are allegedly “prepared to buy” the Swede in the upcoming window. The amount that the

Whites or the Baggies could be willing to pay for the defender is not mentioned in the report.

The player’s current contract has a year left on it, and an additional year can be added at any time. St. Pauli is

“hesitant to release” him after securing promotion to the Bundesliga.

Leeds and West Brom would find it challenging to hire him as a result.

Smith is reportedly attracting interest from 1. FSV Mainz 05 and VfB Stuttgart in addition to the Championship duo.
