Iconic British rock band Radiohead has announced they have no plans for new music or touring in 2025, focusing instead on individual creative endeavors. In a recent interview, guitarist Jonny Greenwood revealed that while the band briefly reunited for rehearsals in 2024, they collectively decided to take a break. “We’ve lots of individual projects going on at the moment,” Greenwood explained, adding that the hiatus allows members to recharge and explore new artistic directions.

The announcement follows a pattern for the band, known for taking deliberate pauses between projects. Greenwood continues his work as a composer, creating acclaimed film scores and classical compositions, while frontman Thom Yorke remains active with The Smile, a side project that released its third album in late 2024. Bassist Colin Greenwood has joined Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds for their global tour, and guitarist Ed O’Brien is crafting a follow-up to his solo album, Earth.

Fans have expressed disappointment at the news but remain hopeful about a future reunion. Radiohead has historically returned stronger after such breaks, delivering transformative works like Kid A and In Rainbows. Critics suggest this time off could foster fresh creativity for a potential comeback in the years ahead.

In the meantime, fans can look forward to solo projects and collaborations, which highlight the individual brilliance that defines the band. While 2025 may be quiet for Radiohead as a group, their legacy as trailblazers in music remains as influential as ever.
