Rangers hero in shock as Celtic claim as he casts doubt over Brendan Rodgers’ loyalty

Ally McCoist thinks the Irishman would be prepared to leave Leicester City again, having left the Scottish champions behind.

The long-term future of Brendan Rodgers at Celtic has come under scrutiny from Ally McCoist.

Following his move to Tottenham for a second spell as Parkhead manager, Ange Postecoglou was replaced by the

Hoops manager, who had just returned to the team last year after winning the Scottish Premiership and the Scottish

Cup. When he originally departed midseason to take up the head coaching position at Leicester City, the Celtic

supporters were incensed.

When he returned to the team in the summer of last year, many fans were still holding grudges against the 51-year-

old for the way he had left the previous time. With a strong season on the field and another Champions League

adventure slated for Glasgow’s east end next season, he’s begun to mend those ties. The Rangers legend McCoist,

however, responded to a listener’s belief that Rodgers is waiting for an opportunity and biding his time at the

Scottish champions, saying he would not be astonished if the Irishman departed to return to English football at some

point in the future.

“Scottish teams have been competing at the very, very top level in recent years, and it is almost impossible for them

to compete in the Champions League.” In my opinion, Celtic would remain exactly the same in the upcoming season.

“Regardless of Brendan’s actions, I am positive that some Celtic supporters will not be satisfied with him returning to

Celtic because of how they view his initial departure. In my opinion, Alistair (the listener) raises an excellent issue,

and I wouldn’t be shocked if Brendan moved on and headed back south.”

“I have no idea if Brighton have an interest or not,” Jeff Stelling continued. But Brendan’s track record with young

players—well, it would be a wonderful fit at Brighton. Nevertheless, we’ll see.
