Adama Traore, a Malian winger, is allegedly nearing an agreement with Rangers.

That is, if reports from Africa are to be trusted. The most recent ones, according to AfricaFoot, indicate that a deal to

sign the 28-year-old at Ibrox is already quite “advanced.”

Adama Traore, who led Ferencvaros to the Hungarian league championship this year, is reportedly valued at over

£3.5 million.

Rangers appear to be leading the battle for the explosive wide player, who is nearly as quick as Kylian Mbappe,

despite Fulham of the Premier League showing interest as well, according to reports.

When you take into account Traore’s 14 goals and five assists this season for Ferencvaros from wide out, this signing

starts to seem promising.

And the connections take on yet another turn as you go a little farther into Adama Traore.

Rangers ties exist with Traore’s agency.

One of the world’s biggest sports agencies, the Malian is not alone, with the LA-based representation boasting over

55 football professionals in their ranks.

Rangers are already familiar with a number of them.

Former Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is famously a Wasserman client and it was during the reign of the former

Liverpool midfielder that the connection with Ibrox deepened.

Jermain Defoe, Fashion Sakala and James Sands were all Wasserman clients.

The agency represents John Lundstram, Lewis Budinauckas, and Connor Goldson among the current crop.

We should hold off on getting too thrilled until anything more substantial breaks closer to home, as this link may not

be very strong.

However, it appears that Rangers have a way to get past the 54-time captained Malian winger.

Is Malian able to fire Gers to the Champions League?

Philippe Clement has spoken about needing to add more experience to the squad on top of the young talent which

fits the player trading profile.

It’s all well good Rangers moving for players who have room to develop at Ibrox but the squad also needs a healthy

balance of experience, athleticism and players in their prime.

Adama Traore would represent such a signing if Rangers can pull a deal off.

An explosive winger as we’ve explained, Traore has spent the last two years in Hungary following a spell with Sheriff

Tiraspol, the Moldovan* club who famously beat Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Prior to it, Traore was growing at Metz while spending time on loan in Saudi Arabia and the French lower levels.

Prior to that, the winger was making an impression on people in the Congo and the West of Africa.

Traore led Ferencvaros to the league title this season with 32 goals and 16 assists in 73 games.

The winger also propelled Sheriff to the group stages of the Champions League, scoring four goals in qualification

before adding two more in the actual campaign in 2021.

The forward helped Ferencvaros miss out on the land of milk and honey in 2022 by scoring four goals in six

qualifying games.

What’s the deal?

Traore’s injuries kept him out of the game for portions of this season, which will make Rangers fans a little more

anxious as they attempt to move past years of nonstop medical turmoil.

That is despite the fact that Traore has been active and healthy for Ferencvaros since the middle of March.

An explosive, quick-witted, deadly Malian winger with plenty of experience to spare may be just what Rangers needs,

since they are severely lacking in quality width and desperate to win the Champions League.
