The Los Angeles Lakers are focusing on a jam-packed offseason after losing in the playoffs at the end of April. Klay

Thompson of the Golden State Warriors, a four-time champion, is a potential free agent

target for Los Angeles. He hasn’t been able to sign an extension yet and is probably going to test the market.

After rupturing his ACL and Achilles tendon, Thompson has two major injuries

in the last few years that have made it difficult for him to be the elite 3-and-D player who will go

on to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Teams will still

attempt to sign the shooter to wrest him away from the Warriors, though.

According to The Stephen A. Smith Show, well-known rapper and ardent Lakers supporter Snoop

Dogg is one person who would like to see Thompson don the purple and gold:

“I’m hoping we can acquire a Klay Thompson.” It’s a short commute down the road; his dad, Mychal, works for the Lakers.

There is an intriguing connection because Mychal Thompson, the father of Klay Thompson, was a member of the

Lakers in his later years and currently works as a radio pundit on 710 AM ESPN LA.

Snoop makes another excellent point, namely that Thompson may no longer be a match for

Golden State because they are not using him as much as they once did:

“I mean, he doesn’t fit with them anymore. They’re trying to minimize him. He needs to be on a team where he is wide open, and we love getting him that look. Right now, he’s fighting to get the ball. And that’s not what he does.”

Shooters are always needed in Los Angeles to surround LeBron James and Anthony Davis,

and Thompson would suit the bill. The Lakers are an improbable destination for him to land because he is

anticipated to seek a sizable amount of change in free agency and may have other suitors.

The Lakers must make room for the mid-level exception, which requires D’Angelo Russell to leave,

and even then it might not be enough if they hope to have any chance of grabbing him.

Thompson has already been linked to teams with cap space, like as the Orlando Magic, so if he decides to leave the

Warriors, he should have options. The Magic are a young club in the Eastern Conference that could need some

seasoned leadership and more offensive

Franz Wagner and Thompson could provide that.
