Steve “Zetro” Souza Reveals Exodus Fired Him: “I Had No Say in It”

In a shocking revelation, former Exodus frontman Steve “Zetro” Souza has claimed that he was fired from the legendary thrash metal band rather than voluntarily departing. Souza, who played a key role in shaping the band’s legacy, recently opened up about the abrupt nature of his exit, shedding light on the internal tensions that led to his departure.

During a recent interview, Souza stated, “I didn’t leave Exodus—I was pushed out. It wasn’t my decision to step away. I still had a lot to give, but the band had other plans.” While he refrained from naming specific band members responsible for the decision, he hinted at creative and personal differences that ultimately resulted in his firing.

Exodus has yet to officially respond to Souza’s allegations. However, sources close to the band suggest that long-standing disagreements about the band’s musical direction and management played a role. “There were a lot of moving pieces,” an insider revealed. “It wasn’t a simple decision, but ultimately, the band felt they needed to go in a different direction.”

Souza first joined Exodus in 1986, replacing original vocalist Paul Baloff, and was instrumental in the band’s rise during the late ’80s and early ’90s. After leaving in 1994, he rejoined in 2002 for a brief period and later returned in 2014, helping to reinvigorate the band’s presence in the modern metal scene.

His most recent tenure lasted until 2024, when rumors began circulating about his possible departure. Fans were left stunned when Exodus announced a new lineup without Souza, fueling speculation about behind-the-scenes turmoil.

Despite the split, Souza remains passionate about music and has hinted at new projects in the works. “I’m not done yet. Exodus may have moved on, but so have I. There’s a lot more coming,” he assured fans.

Adding further intrigue, some fans have taken to social media to voice their support for Souza and demand clarity from the band. Others speculate that this split might not be final, considering Exodus’ history of lineup changes and reconciliations.

As the dust settles, fans are eagerly awaiting official statements from both parties. Regardless of the controversy, Souza’s legacy in Exodus remains undisputed, and his contributions to the thrash metal scene will not be forgotten. Whether this marks the end of his journey with Exodus or just another chapter in an ongoing saga remains to be seen.
