The Pogues Announce 2025 UK Tour in Celebration of 40th Anniversary of Rum Sodomy & the Lash
In an exciting move for fans, The Pogues have announced their first UK headline tour in 13 years, set for May 2025. This tour will commemorate the 40th anniversary of their iconic album Rum Sodomy & the Lash, originally released in 1985. The album, which includes classics like “A Pair of Brown Eyes” and “Dirty Old Town,” marked a defining moment for the band’s fusion of punk rock with traditional Irish music.
The upcoming shows will see The Pogues perform Rum Sodomy & the Lash in its entirety, along with B-sides and rarities from the album’s recording sessions. These performances will also be their first since the death of legendary frontman Shane MacGowan in late 2023. While the band’s lineup will feature original members Spider Stacy, James Fearnley, and Jem Finer, the specifics of special guests remain under wraps.
The tour will cover several iconic venues across the UK, including stops in Leeds, Birmingham, London, Glasgow, Manchester, and Newcastle. Fans can purchase tickets starting November 22, 2024, with presale access available earlier that week.
The announcement follows a highly successful event in 2024 celebrating their debut album, Red Roses for Me, and marks another major milestone in the band’s rich legacy. This spring tour is a must for any Pogues fan eager to celebrate one of the most influential albums in punk and folk music history.
