The Pogues Announce Final Album Release for 2025

Legendary Irish band The Pogues have confirmed the release date for their final album, marking a poignant end to their illustrious career. Scheduled to drop on May 1, 2025, the album will coincide with a farewell UK tour celebrating the 40th anniversary of their seminal record, Rum Sodomy & the Lash.

The announcement comes in the wake of the band’s return to the stage following a decade-long hiatus, making it their first major outing since the passing of iconic frontman Shane MacGowan in late 2023. Core members James Fearnley, Jem Finer, and Spider Stacy will lead the project, alongside special guest appearances that promise a vibrant conclusion to their musical legacy.

The tour, beginning on May 1, 2025, in Leeds, will span six UK cities, culminating in Newcastle on May 8. In tandem with the tour, the final album is expected to encapsulate The Pogues’ signature blend of folk-punk energy and lyrical storytelling while reflecting on themes of nostalgia, resilience, and celebration.

Fans can expect a bittersweet farewell, with performances of timeless classics such as “Dirty Old Town” and “Fairytale of New York,” alongside the debut of new material. Pre-sale tickets for the tour will be available starting November 20, 2024.

This final chapter solidifies The Pogues’ enduring impact on music and culture, as they bid adieu to their fans and a remarkable 40-year journey.
