Titans Release Two Players After Rookie Minicamp
The Tennessee Titans’ rookie minicamp wrapped up under gray skies and the watchful eyes of coaches trying to shape a new era. But as promising as some performances were, not everyone made it to the next stage.
On Monday morning, the team announced it had released two players: undrafted wide receiver Malik Jordan out of Southern Illinois, and cornerback Devon Grant from a small Division II school in Texas.
Both had arrived with hopes as high as the Nashville skyline. Jordan had made headlines in college with circus catches and blazing speed, while Grant had earned a reputation for his grit and work ethic despite his smaller frame. For a few days, they gave everything they had—diving for catches, challenging seasoned receivers, showing up early and staying late.
But sometimes, heart isn’t enough. The NFL is a business, and the Titans needed to trim the roster for veteran arrivals and new signings.
Head Coach Brian Callahan spoke briefly: “These are tough decisions. Malik and Devon gave great effort, and we appreciate what they brought to camp. We wish them the best moving forward.”
As Jordan left the facility, duffel bag slung over his shoulder, he didn’t look defeated—just determined.
“This ain’t the end,” he said. “Just a pit stop.”
For many rookies, the road to the NFL is winding and uncertain. But for those released, it’s not necessarily over. The dream just takes a different path.
