BREAKING NEWS: two brother have been officially transfer to south carolina gamecocks

On the final day of the spring transfer portal window, South Carolina saw a pair of familiar names announce their intentions to enter the portal—Ronnie Porter, a linebacker, and Rondarius Porter, a defensive tackle. The two brothers, who both started their collegiate careers as walk-ons for the Gamecocks, will now explore new opportunities for the next stage of their careers.

Ronnie Porter joined South Carolina in 2021 after coming from Heathwood Hall. Over time, he earned a scholarship and played a key role for the Gamecocks. In the 2023 season, Ronnie played in all 13 games, primarily contributing on special teams. His growth from a walk-on to a scholarship player is a testament to his dedication and hard work.

Rondarius Porter, on the other hand, began his collegiate career at Lenior-Rhyne, where he appeared in eight games as a freshman. After a year, he transferred to Newberry College, redshirted, and later moved to South Carolina in January 2024. Rondarius contributed to the Gamecocks’ defensive line rotation, playing in eight games in the 2023 season.

In their announcements, both brothers expressed gratitude for their time at South Carolina, acknowledging the impact their experience had on them.

Ronnie Porter shared his reflections in a heartfelt statement: “After much prayer and reflection, I’ve decided to enter the transfer portal with one year of eligibility remaining. I just want to say thank you to the whole coaching staff and the University of South Carolina for an amazing four years. I wouldn’t trade any of my experiences here for the world. Thank you to my teammates for becoming my family and the entire Gamecock family for a life-changing experience. I am looking forward to what is in store for me next.”

Both brothers are known for their hard work and perseverance, and while their departure marks the end of their time at South Carolina, Gamecock Nation wishes them all the best as they pursue the next chapter of their careers.
