Tennessee Titans Draft Ohio State Tight End Will Kacmarek: Scouting Report
It was Day 3 of the NFL Draft, and the Tennessee Titans’ war room was quiet—too quiet. After rounds of calculated picks and safe bets, General Manager Ran Carthon glanced at the draft board and narrowed his eyes on a name that had quietly risen over the past two months: Will Kacmarek, tight end, Ohio State.
A former walk-on turned captain, Kacmarek was never the flashiest name in the Big Ten, but his tape told a different story—gritty blocks, reliable hands, and a knack for finding seams in the middle of the field. At 6’5”, 250 pounds, he didn’t burn defenders with speed, but he moved like a chess piece: deliberate, intelligent, always two steps ahead.
The Titans were looking to bring toughness back to Nashville, and Mike Vrabel, a former Buckeye himself, knew what the program bred. When Kacmarek’s name came up, Vrabel leaned forward and simply said, “That’s a Titan.”
With the 171st pick, the Tennessee Titans selected Will Kacmarek.
A call was made. Back in Columbus, Kacmarek answered, his voice cracking with disbelief. “Coach,” he said, “I won’t let you down.”
The scouting report read: Smart, physical, high-character leader. Underrated route-runner. NFL-ready blocker. Ceiling: dependable TE2, but with grit to surprise.
But in Nashville, they weren’t just reading the scouting report. They were writing a new chapter.
Would you like the story continued as a “rookie season” follow-up?
