CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Reds have officially placed third baseman Jeimer Candelario on the 10-day injured list due to a worsening lumbar spine strain, retroactive to Monday. The 31-year-old has been sidelined since Sunday and is expected to miss an extended period.
In a bold move, the Reds have acquired veteran infielder Amed Rosario from the Los Angeles Dodgers to fill the void. Rosario, 28, boasts a .305 batting average with 28 RBIs and 10 stolen bases this season. He brings versatility, capable of playing second base, shortstop, third base, and all three outfield positions. Rosario was claimed off waivers by the Reds earlier this week.

With Candelario’s absence and the underperformance of other first base options, including Christian Encarnacion-Strand and Spencer Steer, the Reds are hopeful that Rosario’s experience and adaptability will bolster their lineup during this challenging period.
The Reds are scheduled to face the St. Louis Cardinals in a doubleheader today, with the first game starting at 11:30 AM CDT. Rosario is expected to join the team and be available for the second game of the doubleheader.
